Paul brings over 25 years of research experience and insight in protein engineering and microbiology, with an emphasis on multidomain proteins and enzymes. Over the course of his academic career, he has led the development of numerous cell line engineering technologies, and invented the technology behind cellulosic ethanol, along with many other projects.
Paul earned his Ph.D from the University of California, Davis, in 1984, and a B.S. from the University of California at Berkeley. He completed his postdoctoral fellowships at UC Berkeley and Stanford University Medical School.
